Fabio Baldato was the man operating race radio in the BMC Racing team car at Criterium du Dauphiné.
Heading into the final stage yesterday the team felt leader Richie Porte had a terrific chance of holding on.
But he got stranded badly and was forced into chasing a breakaway with the big names up the final climb.
Jakob Fuglsang (Astana) pulled 1:15 out of Porte and beat him by 10 seconds overall - the same margin as the time bonus for the stage win.

But for that loss by just 10 seconds, it would have gone down as an epic comeback by the Australian.

In the push to the finish line yesterday, Baldato was in Porte's ear; pouring out his own stress into the ear of a rider already on the limit.
