One pro rider has pointed to the heat generated by disc brakes as a real concern, and he's posted a video to demonstrate his point.
Disc brakes have gotten some really bad press and now they’re getting another bit, thanks to a new video posted by a Dutch pro.
Reinier Honig rides for Austrian Continental-level team Vorarlberg and has taken to Twitter to suggest there are safety risks with disc brakes because they get so got.
He set a bike down and splashed some water of the discs, keeping his camera rolling to capture the sizzle of the water as it evaporates immediately it comes into contact with the hot metal.
Just three days after Spanish Movistar rider Francisco Ventoso suffered horrific wounds in Paris-Roubaix last year after a brush involving disc brakes, the UCI suspended their use.
However, they are now back in the peloton though with rounded rotors in a bid to allay safety concerns.
The UCI will now likely to forced to respond to concerns raised by Honig’s video.
