Video: Overhead clip shows just how close Froome came to disaster

Steven Kruijswijk (LottoNL-Jumbo) crashed out of the Vuelta in a crash-marred final and Team Sky's Chris Froome was very lucky to avoid doing the same.

Having come close to winning the Giro earlier this year, Steven Kruijswijk (LottoNL-Jumbo) is out of the Vuelta after a crash at the finish of stage 5 today.

And judging by the overhead clip, below, Chris Froome was lucky not to join him on the way home, or at least find himself in recovery mode.

As the GIF below reveals, as the riders fall to the left if shot, Froome is right behind them.

And because the riders were travelling at such speed towards the finish, he was very lucky to find neither bodies nor bike skidding his way across the tarmac to cut him down.
