This 30-minute documentary brilliantly captures the battle of man against himself, trying desperately to make the time cut after days of pain during the 2,200km Race Around Ireland.
German rider Michael Hange looks absolutely shattered, and his support crew more than a bit spooked, in the latter stages of this piece by Julius Besner.
With hundreds of kilometres remaining, including Wicklow’s Sally Gap, and the time cut bearing down on him, Hange battles bravely in an effort to make it.
He is willed on by a brilliant support crew trying to keep the faith and completely invested in their man making it all the way.
The action in this piece builds really nicely to a very emotional finish, with Hange pledging to return again next year to try and tame Ireland.

Getting underway from Trim Castle with a world, or at least a country, of pain ahead of him.

The support crew; absolutely crucial to have good people who know exactly what they're doing during an event like this.
