Video of Dublin Bus driver telling cyclist during row: "I'll run you over, no problem"

Dublin Bus driver also tells cyclist if he wants to die, to continue cycling as he is in the video below. Just to warn people; there's explicit language in the clip.

Dublin Bus is investigating an incident involving one of its drivers after he was filmed during a row with a cyclist while both travelled down the quays in Dublin.

The incident appears to have occurred last Wednesday or Thursday, with the clip below posted two days ago on YouTube via an account under the name Liam Phelan.

The clip, which was filmed on the cyclist’s headcam, opens with the rider in the bike lane on the north quays and the vehicle on his outside in the bus lane. As the rider gains ground on the bus, it veers into the bike lane towards him.

The bus’s left indicator is turned on and it appears the driver is entering the bike lane as he prepares to pull in at a bus stop further down the street.

However, there is also a second cyclist overtaking the bus on its outside and the bus's move to the left and into the bike lane may have been done to give that bike more room.

The cyclist in the bike lane then gains ground on the bus and cycles in front of it as both rider and vehicle continue their progress down the quays.

As the vehicle comes to a halt at the bus stop, the rider swings around to the other side of the bus where the driver is seated.

The driver then opens his window and the pair engage in an argument.

The cyclist protests that the bus has just come into the bike lane, with the bus driver telling him: “Go in front of me; I’ll run you over, no problem”.

After further verbal exchanges, the bus pulls off. But when the cyclist catches up with it a little further down the street, the confrontation starts again, with the driver telling the cyclist he’ll die on the roads.

“If you keep doing what you’re doing you definitely will,” he says.

The YouTube account the clip is published on also carries other videos shot over a period of time on a cyclist headcam. They depict what is claimed to be repeated problematic driver behaviour unrelated to the more recent dispute with the bus driver.

Dublin Bus said it received a complaint yesterday and that the matter was being investigated.

It added all of its drivers were trained on cyclist safety, including awareness of cyclists moving around their vehicles and positioning of their vehicles on the road.
