The speed of this car mixed with the closeness of the pass made for a very hairy moment for this Irish cyclist.
The Stayin’ Alive at 1.5 group has been doing a great job drumming up support for the introduction of a safe passing distance of 1.5 metres between cars and cyclists.
And for Road Safety Week it has put together a compilation of near-miss close passes recorded by cyclists on Irish roads.
The group has shared the clip on its Facebook page with the following message:
This week as part of the Road Safety Authority Ireland ‘Irish road safety week’ we are sharing 1.5 metre safe passing videos with you. Here's why!
During the summer we asked you to send us in your close passing clips and as usual you responded.
This is a selection of what you sent in to us. These are all from Irish roads and this is a behaviour that needs to change; no ifs, buts or ands!
At the end of the clip is an example of how it should be done. It's sharing, not rocket science!
Please do not comment with number plates, driver identities etc. The people who sent these to us are dealing with their footage in their own way.
