Video: Mechanic hit by Tour Flanders car while hepling crashed riders

A mechanic who stopped to help these crashed riders was forced to bang hard on a team car that hit him and looked like it was just about to drive over him.

The mechanic in the clip below looks to have had a lucky escape at the Tour of Flanders on Sunday.

He had jumped out of one of the team cars and gone to the aid of riders who had just crashed.

However, while walking along the road carrying a number of wheels an Etixx-QuickStep team car can be seen driving or rolling into him.

At first it looks like the mechanic has just been knocked off his feet by the slow-moving vehicle, but the car continues to edge forward threatening to drive over him.

The mechanic can then be seen banging on the car to alert the driver to his presence and the vehicle then finally comes to a halt.

There was no information at the time of writing on whether the victim sustained any serious injuries but it looks like he had a lucky escape.
