This crash at the start of the U23 race brought down or completely blocked all but a handful of riders in the field; amazing.
Former World U23 champion Wout Van Aert was crowned Belgian cyclocross champion this afternoon following a cracking race in Lille.
The 21 year-old Crelan-Vastgoedservice professional won the elite title for the first time but it was anything from straight-forward.
He lost his balance while leading and fell spectacularly, though had enough time to remount and continue to win.
His embarrassing spill is captured in the first clip below.
As is always the case in cyclocross, the starts were chaotic in Belgium today, but have you ever seen anything like the start of the U23 race in the second clip below?
Only six managed to make it through the carnage, though the race was restarted.
