Video: Mark Cavendish turns the air (very) blue when asked about doping

As the clip below shows, Mark Cavendish wasn't long letting rip when a doping question wasn't to his liking in Argentina.

Currently in Argentina with his Etixx-Quick Step team for his first race of the year, the Tour de San Luis, Mark Cavendish didn't look exactly thrilled to be before the media at a press conference.

But when asked whether he could be sure the pro peloton was clean, the Manxman and former world champion saw red.

He replied by asking the journalist who posed the question if he could be sure one of his colleagues wasn't, well, having it off with his wife.

Just a word of warning; the language was a lot more colourful than that. So if you're easily offended, this one is not for you.

Cavendish, second from left, with the other big stars wheeled out for the pre-race press conference in Argentina on Saturday.

His team mate and current world champion, Michal Kwiatkowski, was beside Cavendish and did his best not to react.

But a look of disbelief crept across his face after the remarks.

Cavendish, who has always been an outspoken critic against drug taking, then went on to respond to the question substantively after turning the air blue.

Cavendish will look to get his season off to a winning start in Argentina; the Tour de San Luis running from January 19th to 25th.

He believed the sport of cycling was doing better than other codes to catch the cheats and when they were caught, the problem was not being brushed under the carpet to protect the image of pro cycling.

"Where there’s money to be gained, there’ll be the odd d***head who cheats but cycling is miles ahead of other sports when it comes to testing," he commented.

"I hope everyone’s correct but with human nature, you can never be certain. But the positive that I can take is that if someone is cheating, he will be caught."
