Video: Man trying to get home cycles 330 miles in wrong direction

The man only realised he had gone in the wrong direction for 330 miles when police stopped him for cycling on a motorway.

A migrant worker in China decided he would save money by cycling home to his family in time to celebrate Chinese New Year.

However, having ridden 330 miles he was stopped by police for cycling on a motorway.

He told the officers he was on his way home but when he explained where his destination was the police broke it to him that he’d ridden in the wrong direction.

Instead of travelling north from Rizhao he had cycled south and kept going; completely unaware he was getting further from home.

He appears to have fallen on hard times having gone to Rizhao to work and was living in internet cafes.

However, despite not having the money to get to his home by train just over 1,000 miles away in Qiqihar, north-east China, he set off by bike.

According to reports from Chinas he was unable to read the road signs and was depending on guidance from those he met along the way but seemed to misunderstand their directions.

The police officers and staff at  a nearby motorway toll station where he was stopped, in very cold conditions, pooled their resources to buy him a train ticket home.
