Video: Look how fast this car veers into the cyclist's path and rams him head on; scary

It's the speed of the VW veering across the road and hitting the cyclist head-on that's most frightening about this incident. It was literally over in a couple of seconds. Above Patrick Knetemann's bike was in pieces after the impact.

The clip below really hammers home how quickly cyclists can find themselves in real trouble on the roads, completely out of the blue.

The man on the bike is 34-year-old officer worker Patrick Knetemann. He was riding along a main road when a black VW swerved across from the opposite side and hit him head on.

It took his forks clean off his BMC mount.

Knetemann was thrown from his bike, his body smashing the windscreen of the vehicle and his handlebar-mounted camera continuing to record as the bike was thrown up into the air before crashing down to the tarmac.

The car appears to have been fitted with fake reg plates and despite this footage police have been unable to trace driver or vehicle.
