Video: Limerick driver cuts across cyclist like he isn't there

With so many cyclists now on the roads in Ireland, most motorists are more aware of those on two wheels around them.

There are exceptions of course, and here’s one that a stickybottle reader found in Limerick City the other day.

The incident occurred at about 3pm last Friday near the Crescent Shopping Centre.

Limerick rider Alan Fitzgerald was coming out of town and was on the roundabout when this car pulled onto it despite his presence on the road.

He had lights on, thought it was daylight, and said he doesn’t think the driver saw him at all; before, during or after the incident.

“She just didn't seem to acknowledge me one bit,” he said.

“As I cycled up past her car I slowed and looked in the window to see and she still didn't see me.

“I just kept going; why bother confronting her? I always have lights on night and day so I'm surprised she didn't see me.”

This could have turned very nasty very quickly.
