Marcel Kittel's face is clearly badly cut and bleeding and his team claim he was punched in a row in the crosswinds on Dubai Tour stage 3 today.
Marcel Kittel was left with a bloodied eye mid stage on stage 3 of the Dubai Tour today as it appeared the battle for position in the groups in the crosswinds got out of hand.
His team claims another rider took his hands off the bars and elbowed Kittel in the eye, causing the wound to the big German.
Kittel, who won yesterday's stage 2 and the opening stage the previous day when he took the race lead, was clearly not happy and could be seen complaining to other riders and race officials.
He appears to have clashed with an Astana rider during the stage, with the incident likely to be investigated after the racing is complete today.
The stage was in the latter stages at the time of writing. More later.
