Kiwi Jack Bauer loses the head when a feed bag gets stuck in his wheel; he flings his bike into the ditch at Gent Wevelgem.
Having finished 8th in the E3 Harelbeke semi classic midweek in Belgium, Jack Bauer of Cannondale-Garmin had every right to be confident going into yesterday's Gent-Wevelgem.
And with 63km remaining, he was still well in the hunt; riding in the second group on the road.
However, when he took on a musette at a feed station and the strong crosswind blew it into his bike and forced him to a stop, the Kiwi picked up his mount and flung it across the ditch.
It was all captured from the helicopter in the skies above and has produced amusing footage, below, that will undoubtedly haunt him for years to come.
And while Geraint Thomas of Team Sky was blown off his bike and remounted to go on and finish 3rd, there was to be no such happy ending for Bauer.
He was listed as a non-finisher on a day when the rain and really strong winds split the race to pieces and saw only the strong and streetwise riders prevail.
