Video: Irish schoolboy cyclist interviews Geraint Thomas about his career

Ryan McBride won a Barnardos competition to interview Geraint Thomas about his cycling career, captured in the video below

When the 2018 Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas teamed up with Barnardos to raise money for vulnerable children, one part of the campaign was a competition for kids to win the chance to interview the Welshman.

Ryan McBride, the 10-year-old Banbridge Cycling Club rider, entered the competition and came away with the win; not the first time he has done that in the cycling world.

Ryan is an avid
road, cyclocross and track rider and has done extremely well so far, especially
in cyclocross where he’s taken a number of wins in the youth races.

As the winner of
the Barnardos competition, he won the right to interview Thomas for 15 minutes
and his family and club recorded the clip below capturing the interview.

Thomas, two-time Olympic champion and four-time world champion, was very open with Ryan in his answers and this video is well worth a look.

Thanks to the Ryan, the McBride family and Banbridge Cycling Club for producing the interview and making it available.
