Video: Irish club says this truck passed them far too close. Do you agree?

When this truck passed this Irish club spin at speed yesterday the riders felt it was far too close. Have a look at the clip and see what you think.

We’re probably taking our lives in our hands with this one, but when we saw this video and this message we knew it was well worth sharing.

It was recorded by the riders from Lynx Cycling Club near Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath, yesterday Sunday, February 14th.

It shows the riders being passed by what looks like a US-style vintage pick-up truck. They felt the truck passed too close and posted this clip.

It’s important to say here that there is no suggestion of the driver having done anything illegal.

However, the riders objected to the fact the vehicle passed at a distance that they regarded as too close for comfort.

And they have referenced the 1.5m metre passing distance that the Stayin’ Alive at 1.5 safety advocacy group is campaigning for.

The group has described the passing distance in this clip as unacceptable.

But even if the vehicle passed closer than 1.5 metres – which the group is seeking but which is not law at present; was there anything wrong with this?
