Video: Irish club riders in close encounter with oncoming van
Having this oncoming van coming at them on the wrong side of the road doesn't look like much fun.
The two lads in this clip looked like they got a nasty surprise when an overtaking van appeared in the road coming towards them.
The incident occurred yesterday evening in the south west of the country.
As the footage shows, a van with an Advance Pitstop logo on the side was overtaking other vehicles.
However, it didn’t have the time or perhaps the speed, to get past the line of traffic and back into their own lane by the time they reached the cyclists.
The rider to the right of the clip appears to try and dart in front of the cyclist recording.

But it all happened so quickly he didn’t really get time to clear his buddy.
Thankfully there was no collission and the cyclists emerged having suffered nothing more than a scare.
The riders have told stickybottle they contacted Advance Pitstop with their footage and video.

The reply from the company that has been sent to stickybottle thanks the riders for passing on the images.
“Thank you for raising this serious matter with us,” the reply says.
“This has been officially lodged and is being investigated as we speak. We will respond to you on this further once we know all the facts.”
It seems like a decent attitude thus far from the company. Its logo is on the side of the van.
Undoubtedly it will need to establish whether the vehicle is still in its fleet and had one of its drivers behind the wheel at the time.

From this angle the van looks to have a reasonable distance to overtake and get back into lane. But the line of traffic and oncoming riders were upon each other in a flash.
