Video: Interesting words from An Post riders about how hard first race is

An Post-Chainreaction are well underway now in the early stages of their 2017 campaign.

Having ridden the one-day d'Ouverture La Marseillaise in France at the weekend the riders are currently in the thick of the five-day Etoile de Bessèges (UCI 2.1), also in France.

That stage race began yesterday with a 158km leg and while the field didn't split up by a huge amount and the race finished in a bunch sprint, the challenge posed by competing at this level is clear to see on the riders' faces after the stage.

There are some particularly interesting comments at the end by Jonas Bokeloh, the young German former world junior champion.

He said the three finishing circuits, where the sprinters’ teams were riding hard at the front to ensure the race stayed together for a sprint finish, was "ridiculously hard".

Bokeloh's main impression was that racing at this level compared to what he was doing last year was like "racing with grown men".

It's an interesting little film, take a look.
