Video: If you were the cyclist, how would you handle this guy?

To stand your ground or not stand your ground when faced with a driver like this? That is the question…

Here’s an interesting clip of a road rage incident recorded on a cyclist’s cameras in south London last Friday.

The driver of the white Peugeot car gets stuck in slow-moving traffic behind the rider and is irate that he can’t overtake.

However, while the bike rider initially has nowhere to go to get out of the driver’s way, they soon come to a slightly wider stretch of road with a cycling lane.

But instead of pulling over into it, the cyclist holds his position in the centre of the road, meaning the car behind still can’t get ahead of him in traffic.

The motorist then completely loses his cool, darts up the cyclist’s inside – as he does several times - and cuts into his path.

What would you have done if you were the cyclist?

Would you have refused to be bullied and held your position for the sake of it and/or because being ahead of this guy is safer than being overtaken by him?

Or would you have moved into your left into the cycle lane and let this guy pass?

The cyclist suggested on his YouTube post that the poor design of the cycle lanes in the area had seen him cut off by cars at a nearby roundabout, implying he took up position in the lane so he would be seen by drivers more easily.
