Oh dear: This guy tries to rob an €8,000 bike but his escape goes very badly wrong for one very, very simple reason.
Just when you think we’ve reached the limits of human stupidity, somebody like this comes along.
The would-be bike thief in the clip below walked out of a shop with a bike valued at about €8,000.
But he didn’t seem to notice the Giant Defy SL he was intent on nicking had not pedals fitted and so couldn’t be used for a by-bike getaway.
The staff in the shop notice that he’s just walked out with the bike – and without paying.
They charged after him, with the hapless thief dumping the bike on the pavement outside as soon as he realises his getaway has been scuppered by the absence of pedals.
He then jumped into a waiting car which sped off.
Police have now issued an appeal to try and catch the man who struck at the shop in Cambridge, England.
He is described as white, 6ft 1in and of athletic build with short light hair. He is aged between 20 and 30 years.
The man was wearing black trousers, red and orange Nike shoes, a grey fleece with a black Ferrari jacket under the fleece.
David Middlemiss, the shop's managing director, said: "We've got CCTV in all our stores and got some excellent images of the guy, so hopefully this will discourage anyone else from trying anything like this again."
When the getaway goes wrong...
