This is the moment a civilian cyclist is ploughed into by a speeding bunch coming close to the finish of a criterium.
The clip below captures the awful moment a group coming to the finish in a criterium smashes into a member of the public who wheels off the pavement on his bike apparently completely unaware of the race coming towards him.
The footage was shot on board the bike of cyclist Brian William Davis during the even in Wisconsin, north America, during the summer.
In the clip, which has only surfaced now, the group Davis is in is preparing for the finish of the race just 3km up the road.
As the usual game of cat and mouse and jockeying for position is playing itself out, a cyclist freewheels off the pavement and into the path of the riders, sending a group of them - and himself - crashing to the ground.
“It was during a crit race with ‘closed’ roads,” says Davis somewhat sarcastically.
“The dude just wasn't paying attention despite being in the area for an hour prior.
“He may have been missing a few cards from his deck. One rider got real hurt but the rest of us were Okay surprisingly. It was crazy.”
