Matt Brammeier (Champion System) is the only Irish rider in the race and came home in the bunch today, managing to avoid the late crash that held up a lot of riders including Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky).
The race features six road stages and concludes on Saturday but not before some testing climbs should yield a deserving winner from a field that includes most of the Grand Tour big guns from the past few years.
