Sam Bennett very much got himself back on track with victory midweek in the Giro della Toscana (UCI 2.1) in Italy.
The Carrick-on-Suir man rider for Bora-Argon 18 was 5th on the opening stage on Tuesday and on Wednesday took victory on the concluding stage 2. He also won the points classification for his efforts.
The highlights of the 185km from Montecatini Terme to Pontedera reveal a testing run-in, with Bennett finishing off the work of his team brilliantly in the final dash to the line.
He waited until the moment was right to pounce and while Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data) tried to come off his wheel twice in what was a frantic gallop Bennett still had enough in the tank to hold him off.
It was Bennett's first win since taking the opening stage of the Critérium International in France in March.
He had an horrific crash on the opening stage of the Tour de France in July and while it's been a tricky road back he seems to be on some great form now.
