Really rapid bike changes are nothing new in international road racing, but in an eyeballs-out pro criteriums they are rarer. Check out this clip of British pro Chris Lawless strutting his stuff.
We’ve seen really fast changes at the pits in World Road Championships before and also in cyclocross events; both races were the riders competed over laps of a circuit.
But in the faster world of criterium racing, riders suffering a puncture or mechanical of another description can take a lap out, if the circuit is a short but.
But with British pro rider Chris Lawless (JLT Condor) needed a bike change at the latest round of the Tour Series in Durham on Tuesday, he was back in action in no time.
He alerted his pit crew he needed the change and when he came around to the same spot the following lap he was off the bike and ran to his new bike and was on and away, all in one motion.
Have a look at the clip below and see what you think.
