Video: Furious Dennis loses Eneco win to crash (after hit by TV light)

Rohan Dennis stricken on the side of the road on the final stage in the race leader's jersey, a turn of events he understandably didn't take well.

If you got pissed on out on the bike at the weekend and you were feeling sorry for yourself, spare a thought for Rohan Dennis.

The Australian riding for BMC went into the final stage of the Eneco Tour in Holland in the leader's jersey with just 197.8km from Bornem to Geraardsbergen to be negotiated yesterday.

He had 16 seconds to spare over team mate Taylor Phinney and 24 seconds over Tony Martin (Etixx-QuickStep), having taken the lead from double stage winner Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) when BMC took the stage 5 TTT.

But when the final 60km yesterday saw the roads - including plenty of cobbles - turned into a skating rink with heavy rain, Dennis would crash and eventually abandoned after a futile chase.

In the clip below Dennis was clearly irate at the turn of events that cost him the race.

And coming as it did the day after he was hit by a large TV light during an interview, he managed to look on the bright side with the following Tweet:

The bunch split to pieces on yesterday's final stage, with Edvald Boasson Hagen (Dimension Data), Niki Terpstra (Etixx-QuickStep) and Oliver Naesen (IAM Cycling) pulling clear to share the spoils.

Boasson Hagen would prove too strong for the others on the uphill cobbled finished.

But Terpstra's 2nd place was enough to catapult him from 5th overall to outright victory after the trio finished 42 seconds ahead of Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Alpecin) and Greg Van Avermaet (BMC).

Naesen jumped into 2nd overall 31 seconds down and Sagan was 3rd at 1 minute.
