Video: First look at new Liffey Cycle Route on Dublin's quays

Fine Gael's Ray McAdam has taken some photos of the first stretch of the temporary Liffey Cycling Route and Ciaran Cuffe MEP has shot a video

Liffey Cycle Route: Here's the first look at the temporary Liffey Cycle route that's been installed during the much quieter roads of late.

With Dublin in lock-down due to Covid19 like the rest of the country, Dublin City Council has moved ahead and installed some of the Liffey Cycle Route along sections of the north quays.

The particular stretch captured in these images by Fine Gael's Cllr Ray McAdam and the Green Party's Ciaran Cuffe, an MEP for Dublin, is at Ormond Quay Upper and Inns Quay.

While the infrastructure being put in place is temporary and it's not the full scheme that has always been lobbied for - from Hesuton Station down both sides of the quays and going as far as the East Link Bridge - it is a very solid start.

The commencement of the work represents a big step in the commitment to cycling infrastructure by Dublin City Council and has come after relentless lobbying and other work by the Dublin Cycling Campaign; a volunteer group that deserves huge credit.
