Video: Fan's clip shows just how horrible Contador's Tour crash was

This new footage shot from the roadside at the exact spot where Alberto Contador crash shows just how nasty his crash was.

Alberto Contador lives to fight another day after his crash at the Tour de France but the clip below - shot by a fan from the roadside - hammers home just how awful his smash was.

He fell on his front and clearly banged his head on the kerb of a traffic island he collided with; luckily for him helmets are compulsory.

The Tinkoff rider got back on his bike after the spill with 79km remaining to the finish and was patched up on the move by the race doctor.

And he said afterwards he was unsure how the injuries would affect him in the coming days.
