Video: Dunne & Mullen take on sprint king Greipel; Costa (18) has awful crash

Conor Dunne goes toe to toe with Andre Greipel (Lotto-Soudal) at the first intermediate sprint point at the Tour of Britain today after 80k. And just over Dunne's shoulder is another Irishman Ryan Mullen (Cannondale-Drapac).

 

Conor Dunne has a reputation for getting in the breakaways and he was at it again on stage two of of the Tour of Britain (2.1) today.

The big man, riding for JLT Condor Cycles, was part of the day’s 15-man move that built a maximum advantage of almost 5 minutes over the Movistar-led peloton.

While out front, Dunne went in search of the intermediate sprints at the first, second and third primes but he came up short against German powerhouse Andre Greipel (Lotto-Soudal).

To be fair to Dunne - and indeed Ryan Mullen (Cannondale-Drapac) - they kept the multiple Tour de France stage winner honest all the way to the line.

Dunne was second on the first, second and third sprints while Nicolas Roche (Team Sky) and Mullen were third on the opening two.
