With so many cyclists on Dublin's streets, there is no excuse for Dublin Bus's drivers not to do better than this. Three or four seconds hanging back is all it takes to turn this crazy move into perfect, respectful, driving.
Dublin Bus driver doesn't appear to see cyclist
The sharing of these “dodgy driving” videos often results in the charge we’re helping to create a Them Vs Us atmosphere on the roads.
However, the really interesting thing about this clip, featuring a bus driver and cyclist, is Dublin Bus’s reaction.
The company was straight in to encourage the cyclist to make a complaint if they wished.
The clip was recorded today, Thursday, on Firhouse Rd, south Dublin. The cyclist is riding down the bike lane when a bus passes.
And when the driver needs to pull in at the bus stop, he does it as if the cyclist doesn’t exist.

The really disappointing thing about this driving is that had the driver hung back for about three or four seconds his driving would have been exemplary.

In such a scenario the cyclist would have had time to pass the bus stop. And the bus driver could have pulled in safely.
The fact Dublin Bus are straight onto this, by replying to the cyclist on Twitter, shows exactly why these videos should be published.
All of these incidents need to be highlighted because company’s often don’t react until they receive adverse publicity.
Posting clips like this forces companies like Dublin Bus to pursue incidents like this with the drivers involved.
