
The driver in this video was fined
€250 and incurred five penalty points for this close pass in Co Cork.
The clip has been shared by the
@righttobikeit Twitter user, who has secured a number of sanctions against
drivers, usually in the Munster area where he rides, for various problematic
overtaking moves.
This latest incident occurred on
Rochestown Rd, Co Cork, in April 2019 and was reported to the gardai in the
area.
It has now concluded with a €250
fine and five penalty points, with the video evidence used to pursue the person
who was driving at the time.

Under a recent change to laws in the Republic, there is now a new specific offence of dangerously overtaking a cyclist.
Drivers can be pursued under that, or via general road traffic rules and laws, and cases can be dealt with through a fixed charge notice or through the courts.
