The driver gets out of his van and runs at the cyclist. The bike rider may be more than 20 years older than the driver but stops him in his tracks very quickly. Don't try this yourself please!

Things have gotten heated in Singapore after a driver who got out of his van and ran towards a cyclist got a rude awakening.

The driver and the cyclist were being filmed as they were involved in a dispute on the roadside.

It’s not exactly clear why there were at odds as when the footage starts their row is already underway.

While the cyclist didn’t look too irate initially, the driver turns his van towards the cyclist, forcing him to get out of the way.

However, even at that point the situation looked relatively under control and like it may blow over.

But when the driver then got out of his van and ran towards the cyclist, the situation escalated quickly.

The cyclist had put his bike to one side and punched the driver in the head, sending him falling to the ground.

Luckily the injured man isn’t knocked out.

The incident in the video below occurred in central Singapore last Sunday morning.

The driver of the van, a 32-year-old man, was arrested and charged with committing a “rash act”. The cyclist (55) is cooperating with police and has so far not been charged with any offence.

Because the driver alighted from his vehicle and ran at the cyclist, the veteran rider could probably argue he acted in self defence.

But in these situations it’s best to do all you can to diffuse the situation.

And if that means getting on your bike and simply riding away, even if you feel you’re in the right, then so be it.
