While BMC and Specialized-Lululemon were celebrating gold in the men's and women's team time trials at the World Road Championships in Spain yesterday, the Rabo-Liv squad were being patched up in hospital after a bad smash.

The Dutch team were initially going very well in the 36.15km test, but surprisingly dropped the mighty Marianne Vos and then Roxane Knetemann on a late incline.

Still, they were in the medals and looked on course for silver until Annemiek van Vleuten hit the crowd control barriers in the final kilometres and took her team mates down with her; Anna van der Breggen coming off worst.

She was unable to get up and complete the course and reportedly has a fractured pelvis.

However, her team mates visited her later in hospital. And as the tweet below shows, they seemed to have already bounced back from the massive set back of letting a Worlds medal slip through their fingers; rallying around each other and even managing a few smiles.
