Video: Desperate rider tries to grab rivals' drinks at Worlds feed zone

One of the Great Britain riders waves her hand in protest as the rider just ahead sabotages the bottle she is about to take on by trying to grab it from her rival's soigneur's hand.

It was extremely hot in Doha today in the elite women's race at the World Road Championships, with riders taking bottles in the feed zones on the course at every opportunity.

But while most country's were very well organised in that regard, others were less so.

With just over 80km remaining in the 135km contest the riders knew they were in a race and were already starting to feel the pinch.

So when Guatemalan Nicolle Bruderer came through the feed zone having either missed her own helpers by the roadside or perhaps not having anyone there, she decided to piggy back on others.

She pulled in ahead of the group and after finishing the last of a bottle in her hand and throwing it away.

She then tried to grab bottles off no fewer than five team helpers from other nations who were looking for their own riders to hand them up to.

Some of the soigneurs grabbed the bottle back when she went in for the snatch, leaving her empty handed.

And in other cases she knocked the bottles out of the soigneurs' hands onto the road meaning those riders the bottles were intended for were left with nothing.

We're sure she only did it because she was desperate but in a long race like this you'd be pretty cheesed off if it was your bottle that was lost because of somebody else.

Take a close look at the very end of the clip below; Eileen Roe from Great Britain is just about to grab a bottle when Bruderer - who finished 38th - tries to grab it but sends it flying, leaving the both of them with nothing.

Roe, who won a stage at Rás na mBan last month, looked stunned but all she could do was wave her hand, shake her head and get on with it.

Five times and still empty handed!
