Dan Martin put in an immense finishing surge up the final climb to the finish line of stage 6 to Miribel at Criterium Du Dauphiné yesterday; the kind of kick that is well worth another close look.

Unfortunately for Martin, the stage win was already taken care of up the road, with Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) beating Romain Bardet (Ag2r La Mondiale) for victory.

But just over one minute back, Martin led home the shattered group of general classification big guns, having done most of the damage in splitting the group in the last 500 metres or so.

Not one of the group could follow, with even race leader and the previous day's winner Chris Froome (Team Sky) forced to concede time to Martin as he simply didn't let up all the way to the finish line.

This really was some kick; take another look.

When Dan Martin went, oh he went!

That last bit again!
