The taxi driver shields his eyes from the bright light of the bike in dark conditions. He and the cyclist appeared to be involved in a verbal exchange before the crash; which was a nasty one. The cyclist was clearly shocked and did not care too much for the driver inquiring if his bike was OK.
A dispute between a taxi driver and a cyclist in Dublin has end in a nasty crash. Thousands of people have viewed the footage online.
It is unclear if the incident had begun at some point earlier or if the clip below shows the full incident.
The driver of the taxi is initially seen behind the cyclist, before passing him, after which the taxi ends up behind the rider again.
The vehicle then passes the cyclist once more and eventually a crash occurs, with the cyclist falling on the road.
Filmed before dawn on a morning commute on Thursday, it appears the cyclist and driver are having some form of ongoing verbal exchange before the crash.
However, the sound quality is very poor. And it is also not clear what the exchange is about.
When the cyclist stops after crashing, the wind is no longer muffling the audio.
The sound is better and the cyclist’s frustration, and shock at having crashed in the way he did, is very clear to hear.
The incident occurred in Dublin’s north inner city at Ballybough just south of the bridge over the Royal Canal and railway line.
