This incident looks like it was underway before the taxi driver and the cyclist reached these lights in Dublin's north inner city. But what follows is incredible.
Video incredible scenes involving cyclist and taxi driver in Dublin
The events in this video (below) involving a cyclist and taxi driver in Dublin are genuinely shocking.
Both cyclist and driver end up all over both sides of the road after going through the lights at what is a very busy junction.
And, incredibly, the cyclist and the taxi driver end on the pavement on the wrong side of the road, with the taxi facing into oncoming traffic seconds earlier.
This junction is the intersection of the North Circular Road, Belvedere Road and Sherrard St Lower.
The incident continues up Belvedere Place and ends when the cyclist reaches the junction with Dorset St and turns the corner on the pavement.
There are other motorists around – one of them recording this clip – and several pedestrians.
Yet the events in this clip unfold in daylight hours on what are very busy streets in Dublin.
It is unclear what issue, if any, had arisen just before the cyclist and driver are picked up on camera. Either way, this is a very shocking incident.
It follows another incident in Dublin, close to the location of the events in this latest video (below) in which a cyclist crashed after a dispute with another taxi driver.

The sequence of events

Cyclist arrives at traffic lights, passing car recording on inside and crosses the junction.

The taxi has now arrived and passed the vehicle recording and gone across the junction; cyclist and taxi are side by side here.

On the far side of the junction now, the cyclist is in the bike lane and the taxi also goes into the lane, resulting in the cyclist cutting across the back of the taxi.
The cyclist is now in the cycle lane on the other side of the road while the taxi is driven down its side of the road.

The taxi then cuts over onto the wrong side of the road, into the path of the cyclist.

The cyclist goes up onto the pavement and around the corner, though he is still just visible in this shot. The taxi is now hopelessly out of position, facing into a corner on the wrong side of the road and with cars coming around that corner head-on into him.

As vehicles come around the corner, the taxi is driven up onto the pavement in an apparent effort to get out of the way.
