Video: Cyclist hit head-on by driver in viral clip has his say on bruising incident

This cyclist was taken off his feet while standing at a T-junction waiting to turn right. He has since shared footage of the incident, which has gone viral.

A cyclist run over by a driver who hit him head-on has said the crash and footage of the incident going viral had both been bruising experiences.

However, Michael Rammell added while many of those commenting on social
media were only interested in laughing at the crash, others had been more
sympathetic.

And while he escaped without significant physical injury and has been out on his bike since the incident, it had made him a lot more nervous on the roads.

“I acknowledge that I’m now nervous on the road. I’m uneasy,” he said of the
mental impact of the crash.

“Close overtakes aren’t uncommon, but whereas before I could take a breath
and carry on, I now panic.

“I know with enough time on the road and in the saddle, that this should
pass.”

He also urged motorists to be more careful, saying: “Drivers, don’t cut
corners. Cyclists, stay safe and stay seen.

“All road users, respect one another. We all share the road and no one road
user has more or less entitlement than another.

“Look out for your fellow humans and remember, they’ll have families pets
and friends that need them at home.”

The incident occurred last week in Windsor and was recorded by a dashcam in
a car behind.

Michael Rammell was waiting at a T-junction, sitting to the right of it so he
wasn’t blocking motorists turning left.

However, the driver of a BMW turned into the road, cut the T-junction and
took out Rammell who was standing with his bike at the time.

Rammell said he had no interest in seeing the driver prosecuted. Instead, he was sharing footage of the incident so it may spark a conversation.
