Video: Watch these crazy riders dice with high speed train in Paris-Roubaix

Watch these riders ignore the level crossing barriers coming down, and the train hurtling towards them, to make the move in Paris-Roubaix.

This is the moment a small group of riders managed to sneak across a level crossing as a train hurtled towards them, while those they were with were forced to watch them blast up the road.

The incident, in the video below, played out in Paris-Roubaix today as the group was about to race onto the 18th section of pavé known as the Hornaing.

The barriers came down as the train approached at the exact moment the group of favourites reached that point of the course, with 85kms remaining.

Some of them ignored the barriers and the shouts of a policeman ordering them to wait and scuttled across the tracks and up the road.

This was the last man across from the group to the leaders who had just crossed; looks like a BMC rider.

The others saw the training coming and stayed put for what must have been an anxious time as the race seemed to be lost from their grasp.

The classic, eventually won by John Degenkolb (Giant-Alpecin), was immediately neutralised.

It meant those left behind could catch the riders who had benefitted from the incident

And while the episode was dangerous, none of the riders who ignored the closing barriers were penalised.

The riders and cavalcade must wait for the train to pass before they can get going again; the gap to those ahead growing with every anxious second.
