An Irish rider, and maybe more than one, was caught up in this huge crash in Innsbruck.

At least one Irish rider, possibly more, has been caught up in a huge crash in the junior road race at the World Road Championships.

With 72.3km remaining and with the bunch about to hit a climb, a small number of riders fell close to the front of the bunch.

The domino effect then kicked in in an instant; with a huge section of the field either falling or being caught behind the crash.

There was decimation in the field, with many riders left to chase back on after the crash in Innsbruck, Austria.
