Conor Dunne was shattered and more than a little bit emotional right after winning the elite men's road race at the National Championships in Co Sligo yesterday.
Video Conor Dunne golden moment after champs win
It was a win based on plenty of suffering and aggression. And the effort wasn't just put in yesterday; it's been a work in progress for years.
But on Sunday afternoon Conor Dunne claimed the Irish elite road race title. And the video cameras were there to capture his reaction.
In the video below - by InForm Sport - the emotion of the sacrifice that it's taken to get where he is came flooding out.
Dunne said he'd got nothing but support from the Irish people, as well as his girlfriend Stacey Kelly.
And he seemed genuinely overwhelmed to be able to pay back that support by winning the right to wear the champion's jersey for the next 12 months.
The Aqua Blue Sport staff - Stephen Barrett and Martyn Irvine - were on hand to congratulate him. And the warmest embrace came from team mate Eddie Dunbar; himself in the top 10 yesterday.
This is a great little clip that's well worth a look. This is what it's all about...
So lovely seeing @conordunnealot winning in Sligo yesterday - and his heartfelt reaction. Says a lot for perseverance. Congratulations Conor and @AquaBlueSport! Chapeau.#CINatChamps18 pic.twitter.com/dj00OKLEa3
