All life is here; an interesting short clip recorded by a club cyclist out training. Is this typical of Irish roads?

Here’s an interesting little clip shot on a cyclist’s on-board camera in the west of Ireland.

The two close-pass incidents captured here – one on a straight road and the other on a more minor road – occurred within 30 minutes of each other.

The cyclist was training on the Oughterard Road in Galway yesterday, Wednesday.

As you can see, a car passed in very closely at speed. And later a large truck gave him very little room on a minor road.

The road surface was wet and it was raining. And there was also a truck in the mix piled high with hay – though it gave him plenty of room.

“Either one could've been critical,” the rider told us of both close pass incidents.

“It'd be great if you could highlight how dangerous this road is and more importantly how oblivious the drivers are in these situations.

“I was wearing high visibility clothing and had two 30 lumen rear lights. I could've been on fire and they probably still wouldn't have realised how close they came to me.”

Let us know what you think, is this a bad case or pretty typical out there?
