Just when you thought you’d seen it all, along comes this guy. The location is Changsha in China’s Hunan province where these CCTV images have recorded a remarkable moment.
An opportunistic thief on a moped spots a bike locked to a tree.
He parks his motorbike and chops down the tree so he can steal the bike. And then he makes off on his moped with the bicycle on the back.
The incident occurred on Monday and after the video below was published by the Guangming Daily the footage was carried in news reports around the world.

Local media put the width of the tree trunk at about 20 inches, but the thief made very light work of it and was gone in no time.
