Video: Brownlee brothers in new TV ad (for Yorkshire Tea); take a look
The leading triathletes have turned to comedy acting and their efforts are not half bad.
They are the Olympic gold and silver medallists from Rio but it appears Alistair and Jonny Brownlee have some hidden talents; acting being one.
The British brothers have teamed up for a new TV commercial for Yorkshire Tea and the TV tongue in cheek advert is pretty funny.
They get out of the lake beside Yorkshire tea’s factor in Harrogate before transitioning onto the bike and then the run, all to deliver a consignment of tea.
They race each other as they go, in a play on their famous sibling and competitive rivalry.
They are not always so competitive, with Alistair famously stopping to effectively rescue Jonny from collapse at an event last year.
Jonny’s legs went to jelly at the end of the World Triathlon Series in Mexico last September.
But with Alistair having the gold medal from the Olympics, with his brother the silver, when there’s a gold blend cuppa being offered at the end of their TV ad; that mug goes to Alistair.
It’s a bit of craic and worth a look; see video below.
The new TV campaign includes other adverts featuring broadcasting legend Michael Parkinson and indie band Kasier Chiefs.
Yorkshire Tea’s head of brand marketing Kevin Sinfield said the company wanted to challenge people’s perceptions about tea.
“We’re extremely proud of the new adverts; they’re fun, engaging and entertaining and with well-known celebrities at the forefront, they will drive our mission to make properness culturally famous.”
The new £7 million advertising campaign is aimed at getting the message across that everything Yorkshire Tea does is “done proper”.
The adverts first aired on TV at the weekend and will be accompanied by a social media campaign.
