Nacer Bouhanni is often the one dishing out the manhandling in the sprints but today he got a taste of his own medicine and he wasn't happy.
Having garnered a reputation for himself as a bit of a bruiser both on and off the bike - and having missed last year's Tour de France after a late-night bust-up - Nacer Bouhanni was given a taste of his own medicine today.
And the French sprinter didn't seem happy about it.
The Cofidis rider was in contention to take the final stage of Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana when he came into contact with rival Bryan Coquard (Direct Energie).
The stage into Valenciana had been shortened due to high winds and with an escape swept up well inside the final kilometre the sprinters finally had their day.
Bouhanni began his finishing sprint from a long way back and on the right of the road as eventual winner Coquard came from within the head of the pack on the left.
The sprint was on a slight turn in the road, with Coquard veering to his right and towards Bouhanni due to the turn and the fact he was coming off the wheels and around other riders.
But Bouhanni looked livid in his belief he’d been impeded – a charge so often levelled against him by other riders.
In the end he was forced to settle for the runner-up slot. More to follow on the Irish riders in the race.
