Sam Bennett and lead-out man Rudi Selig pounce in the sprint of RideLondon-Surrey.
Sam Bennett on-board RideLondon-Surrey Classic
Some fantastic on-board footage has emerged of Sam Bennett in the closing stages of RideLondon-Surrey last weekend.
The Velon clip takes up the action inside the final 2km of the race.
Sam Bennett can be seen behind lead-out man Rudi Selig.
They spring into action after frantic jockeying for position just before the sprint starts.
And as Bennett (Bora-hansgrohe) hits out, eventual winner Alexander Kristoff (Katusha-Alpecin) can be seen about to pounce off his wheel.
And just behind him is eventual 3rd placed rider, and Tour de France green jersey man, Michael Matthews (Team Sunweb).
Sam Bennett hits the front a little too early into the headwind. And also having been out of race action for six weeks, his kick wasn’t quite what it normally is.
Cramps setting in on the finishing straight didn't help his cause in sprinting for victory.
He would take 8th place on the day. The first clip below offers a great insight into the sprint.
The second clip is the slightly longer on-board highlights version of the race.
