
The team warming up on the rollers before Tuesday's stage, which was short but featured three huge climbs. The cold and race route necessitated a really good warm up, even though it was raining at the start.

The riders with their compression socks just before the start of the longest stage of this Giro d'Italia; the 249km stage 11 from Collecchio to Savona.

This Giro has thrown a lot at the riders in terms of really bad weather and plenty of crashes, but the conditions that battered the field on Tuesday made the wet start to the race in Ireland almost three weeks ago look like mild damp.

Roche's team mate, Chris Anker took a really bad fall on stage 11....

.... and though he battled to the finish covered in dirt, cuts and bruises, he was found to have suffered concussion and was forced out of the race.
