Video: Amazing scenes as Brownlee stops to rescue brother

When one of the Brownlees hit the wall and was staggering his brother pulled out of a major finish to rescue him, as the video shows.

 

Among the very biggest names in triathlon, the Brownlee brothers from Great Britain are used to sharing the top steps of the podium; Alistair normally on top followed by Jonny.

That was the order at the Olympics last month when they took a brilliant 1-2, but at the World Triathlon Series in Mexico yesterday Jonny looked to be running to victory.

However, with the heat taking a huge toll on many of the athletes, Jonny spectacularly hit the wall within touching distance of the finish.

He staggered down the course and looked like he'd collapse and be physically unable to finish.

But just behind him brother Alistair was alongside South African Henri Schoeman who took bronze in Rio.

And when Jonny ran himself to a standstill, Alistair stopped and went to his rescue, giving up his chance of beating Schoeman and taking the World Cup lead.

He practically dragged him to the finish line and threw him over that line so the brothers could take 2nd and 3rd on the day.

And as the clip below reveals, the scenes really were incredible.
