Police in the UK have launched an investigation into the incident involved in the footage below, during which a cyclist riding on a footpath hits a toddler and drags her along for around 10 feet.

The footage is the strongest argument we've seen against cycling on pavements.

The incident occurred in Blackpool, leaving the three-year-old victim Lucie Wilding with cuts and bruises but no serious long term injuries.

She ran down the driveway of her family home out to get mother who was at her car parked at the kerb.

Just as the child set foot on the pavement, she was clipped and dragged along by the passing cyclist.

The girl's parents rush to her just after the moment of impact outside their family home.

The injured girl’s parents had alleged the man swore at them and failed to stop.

The girl’s mother Lauren Howarth said as her partner ran to comfort their daughter, the cyclist picked himself up of the pavement after crashing due to the impact.

"He was on the floor with his head on the pavement,” she said.

"As soon as he got up he started swearing at us, as if it was Lucie's fault that he had hit her.

"The next thing we knew he'd gone and we've not heard from him since.
