Video: Ag2r riders crash into each other; one is not happy at all

The two Ag2r riders reacted very differently to crashing into each other at the finish of Criterium du Dauphine stage 2 on Tuesday as these clips show.

Nearing the end of stage 2 at Criterium du Dauphine and with the breakaway being slowed reeled in by the select group, Alexis Vuillermoz of Ag2r was ready and waiting to pounce.

However, just as the fireworks were about to explode on the finishing climb, the Frenchman was hitting the tarmac, with team mate Romain Bardet riding straight into him.

Vuillermoz said after the stage he was going to try for victory and that he felt good. And in the clip below he certainly looked pretty browned off to be taken out.

While his team mate was clearly in bits - left with road rash and requiring stitching afterwards - Bardet's recovery from his spill couldn't have looked less urgent had he tried.

He finished a terrific 7th in the uphill prologue on Sunday and was still in that position overall starting the stage this morning.

Despite this, he seemed to make very little effort to get back on his bike and back into the group quickly.

Because the stage finished on a climb, the normal rule of a rider being awarded the time of the group he was in in the event of crashing inside the final 3km did not apply.

And while Bardet, to be fair to him, chased hard when he eventually got back onto his bike, his immediate reaction to falling was relaxed in the extreme.

He would lose 45 seconds and slip to 22nd overall.

However, it may give the relaxed Frenchman some leeway in getting up the road over the next few days.
