The video below offers an interesting insight into how commuter cyclists see their racing counterparts.
The cyclist who filmed the clip on his headcam was riding through traffic on the outskirts of Dublin City when he was caught and passed by Sean McKenna.
He is dressed in UCD CC kit but recently left the club in favour of Aquablue CC.
The civilian rider, known on YouTube as ‘Dublin Cyclist’, decided to compare himself against “pro cyclist” McKenna.
He is an U23 international who finished top of Cycling Ireland’s A1 rankings last year.

Dublin Cyclist seems pretty pleased he could keep up with McKenna even though he was on a “steel frame bike and in my normal clothes”.
He was delighted to get the jump on him at traffic lights and to only find himself reeled in a full kilometre up the road.
We share the clip here for a bit of fun, and certainly not to take the piss.
Indeed Dublin Cyclist has posted on his YouTube messages that he decided to “keep up” with McKenna and post the video for a bit of craic himself.
You have to love the line about the “very poor bike craft”.
